Here are my degrees from 2014. They were expensive. In 4 years, I earned a BFA in Theatre Studies and a BS in Cinema + Media Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Cheers!
The ACADEMY at Black Box Acting is a 100 day acting intensive that I completed from June 2017-October 2017. Monday-Friday, 6:30p-9:30p, I was with these fine folks learning about and applying the Meisner Acting Technique. It was one of the most emotionally demanding and rewarding experiences of my life. It culminated with a weekend show case where we performed for Chicago agencies and professionals!
In July 2014, I moved out to Los Angeles. I worked on NBC's The Voice, then promptly returned to Chicago to pursue theatre. I took a three week solo road trip up the Pacific Coast Highway in between. I think about this adventure often.
I've worked a million day jobs, but my favorite is with Davenport's Cabaret Bar in Wicker Park. Sometimes, they let me sing!
Spring of 2015, I was the Literary + Dramaturgy Intern with the Goodman Theatre. Here, I worked on "The Upstairs Concierge," "The Little Foxes," The August Wilson Festival, and "Sonya, Vanya, Masha, and Spike" in various capacities.
I LOVE traveling. I've been to 13 different countries and 24 states. I took a road trip through the NE US Fall 2016 and took a series of photos I called #bananatravels. It's on Insta!
I've taken sooooo many classes in Chicago. This is Level 1 Improv with iOChicago. But I've taken hip hop with Old Town School of Music, Digital Bootcamp with Chicago Portfolio School, and Meisner Core Classes 1-3 with Acting Studio Chicago.
I've been skydiving with Skydive Chicago four times. It's more exhilarating each time and I love bringing first time friends along!
When I was in LA, I was the Production Manager with Joe Symon's new musical "A Change in Grace." The writer, Mark-Eugene Garcia, was recently in ABC's ENCORE with Kristen Bell.
I bought myself a trapeze lesson for Christmas 2016. I wish I could have continued! Next, aerial scarves and voice over.
I performed with and wrote for Acorn Theatre Project's "Nature Monologues" the summer of 2016. Here, we're fundraising in Wisconsin with eco-friendly lunch bags. Acorn's mission is to produce eco-conscious theatre.
In Winter 2016, I was the Dramaturg with Circle Theatre Chicago's production of "Venus in Fur." It was an incredible show. I did a bunch of research on BDSM and goddesses across mythologies. I then transformed the theatre lobby into "Venus's Lair." It was fun!
In 2014, I was a Production Assistant on the web series "Dudes." It went on to feature internationally and at a few LGBT+ film festivals!
